Game Night

Miriam, Jackie, and their Irish roommates have a standing game night on Mondays, so they invited a bunch of us over to play with them tonight. We started out with more sausage rolls before a game of Twister, then moved to Mario Kart on the Wii and Call of Duty on the Play Station, ending with Wii Sports. We had lots of fun with each, and I actually didn't lose at everything! I'm hoping we get invited back next week.

My three classes today were remarkably similar...I think I've mentioned before that the professors switch around who's teaching all the time. Well, my Vikings class will be taught by my Castles professor for the rest of the semester, which means that he taught all three of my classes today. And since today was his introductory day to Vikings, he basically recapped everything we've talked about in Castles this semester. Vikings is a first year course and Castles is for third year students (seniors), but he did mention that it was probably boring for American visiting students who were in both. He asked us to raise our hands if that was the case...and I think it was just Courtney, Alice, and I. It was pretty funny.

I didn't really buy food last week, so today I had to make a huge grocery shopping run. Since I had to get so much, I went to the cheaper, bigger grocery store...which is twice as far from my apartment. It seemed like everything I bought today was a big bottle or jar! I was sweating so badly by the time I finally made it back here. At least I have bread and milk and meat and FOOD again--I'm quite excited. I even treated myself to some Oreos to eat with my milk. Yum.

The Tim Burton movie "Alice in Wonderland" is coming out Friday here, so we're all planning on going to see it. It looks so good! There is a movie theater just past Tesco's, the store I shopped at today, which is really convenient. It's expensive, which is why we've been saving our money for something that looks really good. Like this!

We also have another API trip this weekend, but just for one day. We'll be going to Connemara, where I've already been, but hopefully we'll be visiting different places this time.

Besides that, the rest of my week looks pretty normal. I'm going in to the library early tomorrow to print all the articles for one of my final papers and to start working on some more homework. There are just over four weeks of classes left here, so I'd like to start cracking down on my essays. And maybe get certified in rock climbing, finally?

That's really it for tonight, so good night!

  1. Wow, I can't believe you only have a month left!! It feels like we've just started here although it's about time for midterms. I took a Spanish test yesterday and I'm hoping I did ok. I feel pretty good about it but don't think I managed a 100%. Hope you're able to finish your rock climbing certification! I'm excited about taking that class here next semester. Gonna have to make sure I get a bit stronger and lighter first though or it may an exercise in futility! That and hopefully the whole being afraid of heights isn't too much of an issue....anyway...have a great night!
