Lots of Swahili

I decided that after Thursday's performance, I am going to quit Choral Society, even with the fun Swahili songs. It's for several reasons: I can't make the only other performance in April, which is all we're practicing for now; the rehearsals go slower than molasses in January, and of course are on Tuesdays, my longest days anyway; and Archaeology Society meets at the same time, and that's my major/bigger area of interest. I have enjoyed being in it so far, though. Mostly.

Classes today were pretty good. I had to give an informal presentation in Women's Studies about womensaid.org.uk (we did a unit on violence against women today), but that was no problem. I studied a bit for Irish class tomorrow, and I don't really have any homework left tonight...just waiting on my laundry. My roommate and I just checked each other's hair and found nothing, but I'm still washing everything daily just to be careful. There was a bit of a miscommunication today with my director and one of the suitemates about me going to the health center about lice, but that's straightened out now I think. I'd love to think that I can officially stop writing about that now!

On a more adventurous note, I really would like to go somehow this weekend, but I don't know if I will. Staying around here would be okay, since we never got to the aquarium this weekend, but I would love to see Cork or Limerick or someplace nearby. The API group flies to Paris for 3 days two weekends from now, so maybe I should just stay home and conserve my money for souvenirs! I think we find out what is on the itinerary for Paris tomorrow night at the program meeting.

I have a phone interview tomorrow with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation about an internship. It's not one of my top choices, but since I haven't applied to/been accepted at other places on my list, it's worth a shot. At least he's the one paying for the international phone call!

I kind of love Tuesday nights. I dread Irish class on Wednesdays, but I know that after Tuesdays are over, the hardest part of my week is done. I really should do lots of homework this weekend, but for the next few nights I don't have any pressure. It's quite delicious.

I'm going to go check on my laundry, then read in bed for a while, so good night!

  1. Hi!

Looks like things are going better for you. Don't worry about souvenirs (pictures are great) and do and see as much as you can while you're there.

    Love you,
    Mom
