Day 11!
To quote my journal, "after a morning of muddling around," we went to Kymin to see the Naval Memorial...

...and the Round Tower. There was also a path to get to part of Offa's Dyke nearby.

The view of Wales was amazing.

After that we went to Trellech, which has 26 different ways of spelling its name, where we saw the Harold's Stones first.

Oh yeah, this town was quite...rustic. There were sheep living with this monument, and horses by the castles later.

After lunch at a pub, we moved across the street to visit the church. Jack had mentioned that when they were there with their club a couple years earlier, they saw a bunch of random mounds and stuff. When we were looking at it online that morning, though, I saw that one of them was a motte--a castle!! Clearly, while they looked at the church, I ran around back and found this sketchy set of stone steps leading to a hidden path...which led us to the motte!

Awesome! The bailey has been demolished, and the ditch is only left on the north side.

But remember what I was saying earlier? About the horses? Yeah, they seriously lived IN the pasture with the motte. There were paths up the side where they liked to climb to see the view too. I'm not such a big fan of horses, so I stayed up at the top most of the time.

On the way back to the car, we noticed that the pub had a big cage of parakeets and other birds in the back. Very random.
We drove through Monmouth on the way home to England, where we watched the election news while reading, eating lasagna, feeding the chickens, and giving Martha a copy of some of my pictures (okay, obviously not at the same time, but you get the picture).
Ugh, so the video won't upload. Sorry.
Almost there guys!
