Sunday 5/2

So day 9 of the trip, we all agreed to get up early to go to the car boot sale, but got there eventually. The sales were in the cattle market, which is this building specially built to sell random animals in all these gates. We bought a lot of random ceramics and glass; I saw something that I wanted to get for Dad, but had no way of keeping it safe in my suitcase, so they got it for their house instead. Their house is so crowded...and now I know why! I love it.

We stopped on the way home for milk and the paper, then spent a while listening to the free Phil Collins CD that came in the paper. I enjoyed it, at least...they just rolled their eyes at me. And then after lunch, snooker!

I'd already met Mandie, their daughter living in Wales, so we drove over to Jackie's house, their daughter who lives in England (Helen lives in New Zealand, and Yvonne passed away). I got to meet the whole family--Jeremy, his mom Pauline, and the two kids, Lisa and Jonathan. We had a good time talking with them and watching horse racing. Everyone sympathized with my fear of the crazy skinny roads and were proud that Jeremy works on a 2,600 acre farm.

After supper I booked all the tickets to get back to Ireland later that week, then somehow starting talking about how 1 stone=14 pounds. Good to know, I suppose. Then guess what happened? Snooker! And reading a book that their writing club published with some of their own pieces.

We're getting there!
