Saturday 5/1

I'd like to just point out that as I sit here writing this at 9:15 at night, the sun still hasn't set--not even close. It's so different from when I first got here and it was gone at 4.

Anyway, let's start in on day 8.

I got up late after spending a nice late night reading, then Martha and Jack insisted on taking it easy to catch up and feel better. Later, though, Martha and I went on a walk around Ross-on-Wye. We started across the road at the cathedral, which was very interesting and old. The town animal is the hedgehog for whatever reason, so they have a hunt in the church to find all of the hidden hedgehogs on the signs. We only found one...and that was only after someone showed us. The craziest thing, though, was that they were having a movie night in a week to show "Creation"...a movie banned in the States because it's about evolution and Darwin. But in England they show it in churches...

Down the field from that was an overlook that showed the river Wye and the town. The view is lovely.
We also went to the market, although we didn't get anything, walked by some old, old almshouses which are now apartments for the elderly, and sat on a bench and listened to the blackbirds.

The rest of the day was quite mundane--laundry, then running around in the rain to get the laundry back inside, more snooker!, etc. By the time I went to bed, there were clothes drying all over my room. Good thing that sun was so warm!

Let's keep going.
